The T1R20 refueling outage at Three Mile Island Generating Station (Nuclear Plant) in Middletown, PA began in October 2013. Howard Stein, Maintenance Project Manager called on Tri Tool because, “…they had a proven track record for cutting/beveling pipe in place with custom designed machines. During this particular outage, they removed a section of 20” SCH 100 CS pipe and beveled both existing pipe ends and cut/beveled the replacement spool for welding fit-up. No re-work was required. We will continue to use Tri Tool as a valued partner for all of these types of maintenance.

“I just wanted to express our gratitude for the excellent service we have received from Tri Tool over the last few years. In that time we have found your company to be nothing short of excellent as a contract partner. The equipment you supply is always first grade and the onsite welding you do is very cost and time effective for us, especially in our major projects where we are working with limited time. Regarding time, cost and quality, Tri Tool has always exceeded our expectations. We wouldn’t hesitate recommending Tri Tool to anyone.”

Projects Manager – Day & Zimmerman

“I have been using and training UA members with the AdaptARC OrbitMASTER for several years. The fact that it is multi-process, the same processes I train manually, and it’s ease of switching processes and programs from the pendant, makes it the best machine I have used to training other welders.

Its performance on the job, even in rugged environments like the gas/oil industry, out performs production expectations.”

“I really needed a company that was reliable and trustworthy, and Tri Tool was that company for me. I could give them a project and expect the highest quality and the results we needed”, stated Butch Cretsinger, retired Technical Specialist/Mechanical Manager with Grand Gulf Nuclear Generating Station/Entergy Utility. “For 19 years I worked on many different projects, from planned outages to emergency situations and Tri Tool’s service technicians were both qualified and experienced! They worked well with other contractors under pressure situations, and if the scope of the project changed, Tri Tool was available to work through any issues to get the job completed.”

“…the welding process we’re using was developed by Tri Tool in conjunction with Sauer especially for this project. Utilizing that method, we’ve been able to not only cut costs but also make sure the schedule’s been maintained. Whether it’s safety, whether it’s quality, whether it’s just implementing their systems and bringing personnel on board, it’s been an added plus to the entire project and I highly recommend them.”

Brian Stahovec
Project Manager – Sauer Group

“We’re an outstanding company but I think we found a nice partner with Tri Tool. …due to the quality of people they had that developed the welding procedure we were basically doing about 7” per minute with both welders running and putting down about 3/16” thickness [per pass] – that is outstanding – we’re getting 6 hours a weld! Doing it by hand … can take a lot longer than that, probably two shifts. A few of the QA/QC guys and the non-destructive testing companies said that they’ve never seen a film that looked so good after we shot the weld so we’ve been shooting very well, they’re all 100% X-Rays. Tri Tool’s done an outstanding job and I really enjoyed working with them.”

Dave Kretin
Project Manager – Sauer Group

“Tri Tool’s work and application has worked very well for our process. They’re on schedule, quality’s good and everything so far has worked out fine from Tri Tool.”

Tim Castle
Construction Manager – Mark West Energy Partners

“Thank you for the quick response to our needs for a fast job well done and in a very SAFE manner. I was impressed with your field personnel in the checks and double checks on the state of the flange facings. The one that was machined at an angle by one of the vendors was a good catch and your field machinist was able to set up and save it while staying within the B16.5 Tolerances. If asked in the future I will be glad to recommend TRI TOOL for Onsite Machining.”

Dave Follis
Field Quality Manager – URS/EC

“This is absolutely the best orbital weld system Iíve ever used and we have burned a lot of wire with it out in the field under hooch so it has been jobsite tested! Donít matter if it is a TIG root and hot, short-arc root, RMD root, pulsed-spray fill and cap or flux-cored fill and cap it does them all. From Super-duplex with very low heat input to large bore get and go heavy wall it can put the metal in fast!

Tri Tool provided great training, let us help with the customers procedure qualification and gave good support during the job. I really recommend their AdaptARC OrbitMASTER.”

Jason Collie – UA Local 760

“Love the system it is very versatile, programmable and welder friendly. The flux-cored process is the fastest way to weld. AdaptARC is the future of automated welding!”

Andy Barnes – UA Local 760

“The Tri-Tool AdaptARC system has worked great for us in the field and they have provided excellent technical support in training our personnel and ensuring our success in mechanized welding execution.”

“I would like to express my extreme appreciation for … the casing cutting operations last night (September 2016) on CC-196. Pat Parker from Tri Tool’s field services team was an absolute professional on-site and made some difficult cuts look easy.”

Joseph Poole – E2-Lead Inspector

“We just got the Model 208 as part of our ITF grant and I must say, it is one hell of a machine. I want to say thank you for teaming up with the UA and helping us excel our training programs”
