Tri Tool Certified Instructors

Our professional instructors have over 100 years of field machining and welding between them. So take a minute and meet your trainers.

Hollis Hudson, Services Branch and Training Manager, Machining (Rancho Cordova, CA)
If you’ve ever visited our website or seen our brochures, you might recognize Hollis. He’s been working on projects, training or demonstrating product in videos since 2005 with Tri Tool. He has a vast experience running the equipment either in the field or in a shop environment and knows how to assess his students for optimum learning. He has trained so many people over the years on machining and machining techniques that he’s lost count, but let’s say he’s trained more than a few, and some of them are now highly seasoned machinists with Tri Tool. A car enthusiast, Hollis enjoys building race engines and going to car shows with his free time.
Jimmy Ray Madrid, Welding System Specialist (Rancho Cordova, CA)
As Tri Tool’s resident welding demonstration specialist at most tradeshows and customer sites, Jimmy has been with Tri Tool since 2012. As Jimmy states, welding is a dynamic field that changes as advancements in technology occur, “it takes patience to teach welding with the different learning styles you encounter”. Able to “adapt” to most situations, Jimmy can come up with viable solutions to get the job expertly completed. As a multiple SkillsUSA Regional Champion, he’s excited to be working on Tri Tool’s AdaptARC multi-process orbital welding system and teaching customers its full potential. After hours, Jimmy enjoys being with his young daughter, taking her to the park and pond to feed the ducks and fabricating projects in his garage.
Rusty Durham, General Field Superintendent Nuclear & Power, Machining
Rusty, a self-proclaimed “people person” is a field machinist who learned the tricks of the trade from the closely knitted community of machinists back in the “early days”. Since 1994 Rusty has been a field machinist and is currently a General Field Superintendent with Tri Tool. He likes to train people with the understanding that they will develop their own way of machining that is comfortable and works best for them. When Rusty isn’t working or hunting in the great outdoors in South Carolina, he is in the backyard grilling and loving his family get-togethers at his home.
Marc Lakin, Machining Project Manager

Marc, a 19-year Tri Tool veteran, has been training customers on our products for years.   He loves the different, unique challenges each project brings.  When he was on the Oman project for over a year, he provided the training and support to our customers who had rented the PFM’s, Laser Dimensioning System and the 224B BevelMASTER, with beveling and measuring 20 Kilometers of pipe before being laid.  Our customer had over 5000 men on the project, and the two Tri Tool field machinists needed to make sure they could run the machines correctly and safely, when as Marc stated, “sand was everywhere.”

When he’s not on the road, Marc is a “homebody.”  He enjoys growing fruits and vegetables in his garden and uses them when he cooks his famous Steak Diane.  He lives in St. Louis and has three grown children with his beautiful wife, Rhonda.  And because that isn’t enough, and he’s a little bit of an overachiever, he’s decided to go back to school and get a business degree.  Your team will thoroughly enjoy training with Marc.

Cody Van Cleave, Field Machinist (Rancho Cordova, CA)

Although younger than most here, Cody is one of our top field machinists, at Tri Tool a mere 6-years.  He’s been sent to work on projects from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico and the deserts of Calipatria, CA to work on a geothermal plant using super duplex piping.  He has supervised quite a few projects and is now helping to train customers on our products.  He loves going to a project, setting up and sometimes designing and modifying equipment to fit the unique situations that he finds himself in.   Nothing is ever “typical.”   One of his favorite Tri Tool pieces of equipment is the 214B BevelMASTER with the Single Point attachment.  Its versatility makes it and the 216B one of my best “go-to” pieces of equipment for a lot of projects.

Newly engaged, Cody loves spending time with his children camping, hiking, and being outdoors as much as he can.  I guess he doesn’t get enough of that on the job.  Cody is an easy-going, live life to the fullest guy, you and your team will appreciate his capabilities and intuitiveness on any project.
